How I Created a Beautiful Birthday Table at Home—With a Vase I’m Loving Lately

There’s a special kind of joy in gathering loved ones around a thoughtfully set table. Whether it’s an elaborate celebration or a quiet dinner with close family, setting the scene with care makes every moment feel just a little more magical. This weekend, we celebrated a very special birthday at home, and I wanted to make the table feel warm, inviting, and full of personal touches. Today, I’m so excited to walk you through how I styled it all—right down to the vase I can’t stop swooning over!

It was one of those sunny February mornings in South Florida when everything just felt right. The light streaming in through the windows, the flowers still fresh from a recent Palm Beach event, and a little extra time to pause and create something beautiful. I took that opportunity to set a table that would feel joyful, elegant, and effortless all at once.

A Vase That Stole the Show

Let’s start with the centerpiece. I recently discovered the most charming lettuce leaf vase, and it instantly became a new favorite. Its soft green hue and sculptural detail made it the perfect anchor for the arrangement of pink and white blooms I repurposed from an earlier event. Not only is the shape gorgeous, but the height is just right—tall enough to hold a statement bouquet, yet low enough to keep conversations flowing across the table.

This vase is such a gem and would make a lovely gift for anyone who loves to entertain. I can already picture it on an Easter table, a summer garden party setup, or even styled on a console with eucalyptus. It’s that versatile.

Bringing It All Together: The Table Elements

When it comes to layering a table, I always start with neutral, classic pieces and then add texture and interest. Here’s how this particular tablescape came together:

Plates

  • I used clean white dinner plates as a foundation—always a timeless choice.
  • The salad plates I originally used are now sold out, but there’s a similar option from the same brand that’s just as lovely.

Linens & Placemats

  • White dinner napkins kept things crisp and clean.
  • I paired them with raffia placemats in a round shape for that touch of coastal charm that always feels like home to me.

Flatware

  • The faux bamboo silverware added just the right hint of texture and a slightly playful edge while still feeling refined. I love how it complements the natural tones of the placemats.

Glassware & Pitcher

  • I had originally used raffia-wrapped glasses that are no longer available, but there are similar versions that carry the same relaxed yet stylish feel.
  • The spongeware pitcher I added was more than functional—it brought in a pretty, vintage-inspired element that tied everything together beautifully.

Furniture

  • Our dining table and chairs are old favorites that always serve as the best blank canvas for whatever theme I’m dreaming up next. They’re classic and sturdy, and I love how easily they pair with both formal and casual settings.

Creating a Space That Feels Like You

What I’ve come to love most about styling tables over the years is how it allows me to express creativity while making people feel welcome. A table doesn’t have to be perfect—it just has to feel intentional. When you take the time to light a candle, place fresh flowers in a vase, or fold napkins with a little extra care, it shows love in such a quiet but meaningful way.

For this birthday celebration, I kept the color palette soft and joyful: greens, whites, and blushes that echoed the early spring blooms and the natural textures of the tableware. It felt cheerful, relaxed, and just right for a cozy evening at home.

Inspiration for Your Own Gatherings

If you love setting beautiful tables as much as I do, I hope this gives you a little spark of inspiration. Whether you’re planning a birthday dinner, brunch with friends, or just a moment to sit and enjoy a meal with family, there’s something so fulfilling about creating a space that invites connection.

And if you’re on the hunt for pieces that elevate your table but still feel down-to-earth, I truly recommend checking out lettuce leaf vases—they’re the star of the show every time.
